Churchill Downs is a 147-acre race track in Louisville, Kentucky. This track is known worldwide for its yearly hosting of what is probably the most famous horse racing event in the world – the Kentucky Derby.

There are typically two race meets (or seasons) at Churchill Downs each year – the Spring Meet and the Fall Meet. The Spring meet is normally about 3 months long while the Fall meet lasts about 1 month.

Each year, Churchill Downs plays host to some of the most important stakes events in America. Aside from the Kentucky Derby, major stakes events hosted by the track include the Kentucky Oaks, Clark Handicap, Fleur de Lis Handicap, Falls City Handicap and the Stephen Foster Handicap.

Pimlico Race Track is a historic horse race course in Baltimore, Maryland that features thoroughbred racing. It is the traditional home of the second jewel of horse racing’s Triple Crown – the Preakness Stakes – which makes it one of the most important race tracks in America. Other big events hosted by the race track are the Pimlico Special, the Federico Tesio Stakes, the Jim McKay Breeders Cup Handicap and the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes.

Pimlico has a Loam oval track, a Turf course and a Grass course.

Belmont Park is a 430-acre race track in Elmont, N.Y. There are typically two race meetings (or seasons) at Belmont Park race track each year – the Spring / Summer meeting and the Fall Championship meeting. The duration of these meetings typically span from 1 to 2 months.

The track is the home of the Belmont Stakes, the third jewel in horse racing’s Triple Crown. Originally run at Jerome Park in Westchester, N.Y., the Belmont Stakes is the longest of all the Triple Crown races at 1 ½ miles. Many Triple Crown title contenders have found this race to be the most challenging of the three races.

Each year, Belmont Park plays host to some of the major stakes events in America. Aside from the prestigious Belmont Stakes, major stakes events hosted by the track are the Coaching Club American Oaks, the New York Handicap, the Prioress, the Beldame, the Frizette and the Suburban Handicap.

Santa Anita Park is a California horse racing landmark located in Arcadia, in the outskirts of Los Angeles. Santa Anita race track opens annually on December 26, with daily racing continuing through late April. The track also has a fall meeting that is presented by the Oak Tree Racing Association, and this takes place each year from early October thru early November.

Santa Anita Park occupies approximately 320 acres. Its landmark, a 1,100-foot-long Grandstand seats 26,000 guests. The giant Infield area accommodates many thousands more. Behind the scenes are 61 barns, capable of housing more than 2,000 horses and a complete equine hospital.

Aqueduct race track opened on September 27, 1894 in Queens, New York. The original track was torn down in 1956 and the new facility opened in 1959. In 1975, the inner track was constructed to facilitate winter racing. Aqueduct race track is affectionately called “The Big A” by denizens of the horse racing industry and is widely acknowledged to be among the most important tracks in North America.

Throughout its history, Aqueduct has hosted countless stakes races. Among the bigger ones were the New York Stallion Stakes, Aqueduct Handicap, Stymie Handicap, Broadway Handicap and The Count Fleet.

Louisiana Downs is a thoroughbred racing track in Bossier City, Louisiana. It features live thoroughbred racing from May to November and quarter horse racing in November and December. It is considered to be one of the premier racetracks in the Southern United States.

Louisiana Downs’ signature race is the Super Derby. It is touted as a preparatory race for prospective participants to the Breeders’ Cup Classic.
